2024-25 Upper Deck Allure Hockey Review: A Collector’s Delight, Not an Investor’s Goldmine

The 2024-25 Upper Deck Allure is right around the corner, and honestly, it’s one of my favorite hockey card sets every year without fail. It strikes the perfect balance between creativity and value. And by value, I don’t mean resale value—I just genuinely enjoy the design and aesthetic of these cards.

The colorful theme always brings fresh creativity, especially with the inserts. Sure, there are some nice autos and memorabilia cards, but that’s not the main focus of the set.

General Details

  • Release Date: February 12, 2025
  • Price: $160 CAD

  • Blaster Box: 5 cards per pack, 4 packs per box

Hobby Box Breakdown:

  • 1 Autograph or Doubloons Card
  • 2 Serial-Numbered Cards or Short Print Inserts
  • 9 Inserts
  • 8 Parallels and 8 Rookies (1 per pack)

Card Design & Feel

These cards typically have a chromium finish, giving them a metallic, premium feel. That’s what I love about Allure—they come at a more affordable price point but still feel high-end.

While there’s always a rookie chase, this year’s class is a bit weaker:

  • Macklin Celebrini
  • Logan Stankoven
  • Matvei Michkov
  • Lane Hutson
  • Will Smith
  • Cutter Gauthier

Unless you pull something crazy like a rookie patch auto with a low serial (like I did with Owen Power a few years back), these rookies won’t hold serious value.

Base Set & Parallels

In classic Allure fashion, there are about six million parallels:

  • Black Rainbow
  • Glitter Bomb
  • Red Rainbow
  • Orange Slice
  • Gold Glitter Bomb
  • Green Rainbow
  • Blue Line (/35)
  • Purple Diamond (/10)
  • Printing Plates (1/1)
  • Golden Treasures (1/1)

Auto Parallels:

  • Red Rainbow: 1:48 packs
  • Blue Line: /35
  • Purple Diamond: /10
  • Golden Treasures: 1/1

Inserts to Watch

Color Flow:

A fan favorite, this insert creates a rainbow effect across five variations:

  • Red-Orange, Orange-Yellow: 1:4 packs
  • Yellow-Green: 1:6 packs
  • Green-Blue: 1:7 packs
  • Blue-Purple: 1:14 packs

These also come in Spectrum Parallels with added rarity, often serial-numbered.

Colorful Futures:

Focusing on young stars (not just rookies), this 18-card set appears 1:11 packs with parallels in:

  • Orange, Green, Blue, Purple
  • Spectrum Versions: Numbered parallels including Golden Treasures (1/1)
2024-25 Upper Deck Allure Hockey Colorful Futures Connor Bedard

  • Protectors of the Ice: Highlights goalies (1:20 packs)
  • Doubloons: Gold-plated cards (1:72 packs)

Collector vs. Investor Insights

Let’s be real—Allure isn’t the set to buy if you’re looking for a payday. It’s a pure collector’s set.

Sure, chase cards like Golden Treasures or top rookie autos can yield a decent return, but they’re rare. Even the more exclusive parallels don’t hold much long-term value, especially given this year’s rookie class.

Last year, collectors had a better shot at value with Connor Bedard cards, but this year? Not so much.

My take: I won’t be buying this as an investment. If I pick it up, it’ll be purely for the love of collecting.

Final Thoughts

The 2024-25 Upper Deck Allure is perfect for collectors who appreciate colorful, premium-feeling cards. While you’re not guaranteed an autograph, you are guaranteed a wide variety of cards, which is a rarity these days.
